Birchbox August 2015 Review - #BeautyJunkie*

I've been a subscriber to Birchbox's mailing list for AGES but never made the dive into the world of beauty box subscriptions so I was pleasantly surprised when this little box of surprises was delivered to my door.  I think for a first time subscriber, especially a beauty blogger (I use that term in the
loosest sense), this is a great box to start with.

The overall theme of the box is beauty and social media, hence the hashtag inspired name and the awesome custom beauty emojis you see on the box.  You also get a sticker sheet of these beauty emojis inside the box and if you're on iOS, you can actually download the beauty emoji keyboard from Popkey to use on your phone (you lucky dogs!)

Now onto the review :D

#1 - Rituals Ayurveda Scrub (£10) - This right here is the reason why your box smells AMAZING.  There is three different scrubs that could be in your Birchbox and I am so glad I got this one.  I'm not usually a fan of rose or floral scents in general but I can't even describe how heavenly this clay scrub smells, you'll just have to take my word for it.  If you're not a fan of harsher exfoliators then you might want to check this out as you can hardly feel the actual scrub but it leaves the skin feeling smooth.

#2 - Illamasqua Hydra Veil (£32) - This is one of those products which I've wanted to try for the longest time but because it is trĂ©s expensive I've never been brave enough to purchase in case I didn't like it.  With this sample size, you've enough for maybe two or three goes so you can try it out and see what you think.  I haven't had the chance yet because I'm going kind of make-up free at the moment (my skin needs a bit of a break) but I can see this being whipped out for my Disneyland travels since its the perfect size.

#3 - Lord and Berry Blush in Lotus (£18) - Another sample size good for travelling but a bit fiddly to work with if you haven't a palette to put it in.  It's a lovely, earthy, pink shade which I think will be great for the autumn.

#4 - theBalm Balm Desert in Take a Dip (£15) - I'm not one for bronzing and this colour is a bit too dark for me to use it as such but I can see myself using it as an eyeshadow so it'll definitely get used in some fashion or other and again, its another great one for travelling because ITS SO TINY AND CUTE.

#5 - Rebelo Clarifying Shampoo (£13.95) - This hair treatment is to be used one or twice a month to detox your hair of all the products that build up in your hair over time.  I don't really use that many products in my hair save some serum and detangling spray twice or three times a week so I didn't notice a huge difference personally but for those who do use more then perhaps this could be of use to you.

#6 - Huygens Exfoliating Cream (£17.90) - Apparently favoured by Queen Bey herself, this rice powder scrub smells exactly like a Lush soap which I cannot remember the name of but its minty but lemony at the same time so as your face is getting a good scrub and getting rid of all the dead skin cells, once you wash the cream away, you have that fresh, clean feeling that just wakes you up and sets you up for a good day.  It doesn't specify whether its a body or facial scrub but I used it on my face and it was nice a gently, definitely one you could use on more of a regular basis.

So I hope you've enjoyed this little peek at the latest Birchbox and if you fancy picking up this box, then just go HERE and get one for yourself (Boxes are £10 + P&P, other subscription methods are available) or if you just fancy one of the products in particular, just click on their names above.

What I like about Birchbox and beauty boxes in general is that I find they are a good mix or well known, cult and smaller brands so you get exposed to products you never thought you'd get the chance to try because of price, availability or because you have no idea the brand or product existed...and who doesn't love getting post that is NOT bills or junk.

Are you a beauty box subscriber?  What do you like about them?  Be sure to let me know in the comments below and to like, follow and subscribe to the sites below, until next time :D
