Marsala Nails on a Budget with Barry M Chilli and Crush

We've entered a new year which means the creative guys over at Pantone have chosen their Colour of the Year (or Color as the Americans like to say) and it is Marsala, a deep wine colour.  Like last year, I'm going to take you through some of my personal picks which I think match the shade well but I'll be spreading these posts over January, instead of all in one week (if I had of planned this better, we could have had Marsala Mondays but hey ho) so here's my first pick, featuring two Barry M shades, Chilli and Crush.

Chilli, one of Barry M's latest additions to their Gelly range, is the base for this manicure.  As you can see, it's a rich, wine red colour.  The above swatches are two coats with a layer of top coat on top as well.  Two coats are needed as the first coat can be quite thin (as you can see around some of my edges) so it's not one for people in a rush but it really is a gorgeous colour.  I used Crush, from the Matte collection, to do some giraffe print around the tip and side.  Crush can be used as a Marsala shade by itself, a darker alternative, but I loved pairing the two together.  As Crush is a Matte polish, you can leave the top coat and have the cool contrast of glossy versus matte but I chose to top coat everything to get everything dry.

Since these polishes are £3.99, they're very affordable for most people and are probably the most accessible Marsala shades for everyone that are actually worth buying, but if you have more suggestions, let me know!  Like I said, I'll be doing some more posts featuring Marsala shades so if you have anything you'd like to see featured, let me know in the comments below and be sure to be following, subscribing and liking all the sites below, until next time :)

I love any and all comments on my blog...except spam, no one likes that, so don't be that guy!
