Barry M Silk Effect Polish in Meadow

When I first saw these polishes, I got excited, like really excited.  I love creating chinoiserie style nail art and these pastel, opalescent shades are just perfect for creating the chic and girly background for gold gilding detail.  I immediately gravitated to the mint green shade in the collection, Meadow, since I clearly have an affinity towards mint green (have you SEEN my blog?!) and I'm so glad I've finally had a chance to try it out.

If you're looking for a pastel polish that's perfect for Spring but is just a little bit different then Meadow is definitely up your street.  The pearlescent finish may seem a little dated at first but I really love the look of the polish on my nails and I love how the finish catches the light.  The above swatch is 3 thin coats and a top coat.  The polish is described as having a matte sheen finish but I was too impatient to wait and see this for myself since I painted my nails at night but maybe in the future I'll forego the top coat to see the true finish of the polish.

Meadow is currently available from Barry M, Boots and Superdrug at £3.99 and Boots currently have 3 for 2 on at the moment so you can pick up Meadow and maybe another few silk shades in the same go!

What do you think of Meadow?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to subscribe by the sites below, until next time :-)

Blogger's First Face Mask! With Lush BB Seaweed

I feel like it's an initiation rite of a proper beauty blogger to post about a face mask on their blog and here I am documenting my first ever face mask experience!  For someone who talks so much about cosmetics, I am incredibly inexperienced in some respects.  I've NEVER had a professional manicure, I don't own a blow dryer or straighteners (though I do own 2 pairs of tongs and a curling wand) and I've never used a face mask, be it in a salon or at home so when I was offered one in work, I thought, why not?!

Record Store Day 2014 & Easter Nails!

So this weekend is chockerblocked with activity isn't it?!  Of course, it's Easter today (Happy Easter today for all those who celebrate!) and also, it was Record Store Day yesterday.

So since it was RSD yesterday and Easter today, I was flummoxed as to what I could do on my nails since I had to decide between album artwork or something Easter themed.  I went through my record collection to look for inspiration and came across artwork that featured an egg!  Hence I give you my nail art inspired by The Black Keys, Magic Potion!

Ditsy Floral Nails + Tutorial

It's about time I brought you some floral nail art this spring, eh?  I spotted this ditsy floral print on the back of a cardigan from White Stuff and thought that it would make for some great nail art.  I love the colour scheme of the design but I went for slightly softer tones so it is a bit more spring appropriate.  I've also made my first ever visual tutorial (WHAT) so you can learn how to create this simple look.

Jean-Paul Gaultier @ The Barbican x Tatty Devine

This week, Instagram has been awash with pictures of people attending the Jean-Paul Gaultier exhibition at The Barbican centre in London and this week I got my usual email from Tatty Devine but it revealed some cool new items that have been created in collaboration with the Barbican to celebrate the exhibition.  I'm often inspired by Tatty Devine and their quirky designs and these new items are no exception.  I tried to replicate the ever-so-chic Breton stripe look from the Anchor brooch and necklace.  It's a classic look that will never go out of fashion.

Models Own White Light (Hypergel), Nail Art Pen (Blue) and Inglot Nail Art Pen (Red)

Horizontal stripes are still one of those things that I can't get perfect, no matter how hard I try LOL!  If you have even shakier hands than me, you can use striping tape to create perfect stripes (go figure) but I kind of like the imperfection of the stripes (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)

Have you been to the exhibition, which is your favourite piece from the Tatty Devine collection?  I LOVE the Can-Can Dancer brooch (WHICH IS NOW OUT OF STOCK, I WANT TO CRY).  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to follow me by the sites below, until next time :-)

Models Own Bikini* vs Luis Lemon

This is battle of the neon yellows!  Since Models Own released pictures of the new Polish For Tans range, people were asking in comments if the new neon shades were different to the Ice Neon range that was released only last year.  Polish for Tans are described as being pastel neons by Models Own so you would presume there would be a difference in appearance and finish but some people are still a bit sceptical.  Since I received Bikini for review and already owned Luis Lemon, I thought I would do a little comparison myself to see if there really is a difference.

Models Own Polish for Tans - Shades and Flip Flop*

Models Own have done it AGAIN with another fantabulous new release.  This year we've already been treated to Hypergels, Speckled Eggs and Sticky Fingers.  Never ones to leave us polishaholics without something new to talk about, Models Own new range, Polish for Tans, is exactly what it says on the tin.  The five piece collection of muted or pastel neons are supposed to enhance the look of your golden tan (be it fake or real) and I predict it will be a staple on the beaches in the next few months to come.

In case it's escaped anyone's notice, I am FRIGHTFULLY pale.  I've never been tan, either naturally (my skin turns from milk white to beetroot red in the space of about 20 minutes in sunlight without SPF) or artificially (fake tan smells like curry!  It's forever a smell I associate with school) so I'm probably not the most ideal testing subject for these polishes as they are designed to showcase a gorgeous tan but I guess I'm here to prove that the polishes aren't JUST for golden goddesses, so pop under the cut to read my thoughts on the polishes and find out how you recreate this simplistic watermelon nail art.
