You Win Or You Die

If you recognise the reference in the title as well as in the nails then I am to presume that you are a fan of Game of Thrones and/or the ASOIAF books and as fans you might shouting at your computer screens 'But the series doesn't start for another week or so?' and to that I say, I've seen the first episode already!

As part of Belfast Film Festival, the first episode of the fourth series of the fantasy shown was showed to a select 500 people in two screenings.  It was a lottery for tickets and over 7,000 people applied and at first, I did not win any tickets but luckily for me, some people didn't claim their tickets and BFF had a sort of scavenger hunt for the remaining tickets and to cut a long story short, I got two!

So about the episode, of course I'm not going to post any spoilers but I can say that it is definitely a season opener worthy of the show.  Game of Thrones has become such an important part of Belfast and Northern Ireland as a whole since the majority of the series is filmed here and its great to see a preview of the show here.  I myself have been an extra a few times and you know the show is about to start filming because all men between 18-45 start growing beards LOL.

If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, then be sure to check out the other nail art I've done for the show.  As you can see here, I clearly see myself supporting both House Baratheon and House Tyrell, but what's your house or sigil?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to follow me by the following sites to be kept up to date with all things Flails and Nails, until next time :)

Inverse Knit

Coral and blue is a colour match made in heaven in my opinion.  Ever since I've had this jumper from White Stuff, I've wanted to do some nail art based on both the colour scheme and the inverse knit pattern.  This was also the perfect opportunity to try out Models Own Coral Glaze from the Hypergel collection.  It's definitely the most pink coral I have in my collection but it's stunning.

It Is A Truth Universally Acknowledged That...

A nail blogger in possession of many nail polish is in want of the perfect nude polish.  Come on, the polish is called Oh, Mr. Darcy so I couldn't resist LOL.

So these freehand lace nails are inspired by the base colour, the aforementioned nude colour and it's name, the 2005 adaptation and The Illustrated Nail's tutorial for ASOS.  Since I only had a brush and dotter to work with, my design is a little more linear so it is for sure not the same as The Illustrated Nail's version but I think I did alright with the tools I had (my Models Own white nail art pen is all blocked up and my Barry M one is far too thick for this sort of detailing).

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation and Corrector

I'm sure a lot of you girls will agree with me that trying to find the right foundation for you is one of the biggest chores when shopping for make up.  It's seems with the endless supply of shades available on the high street, one never really suits you but when you do find a shade that fits you to a tee, you want to hold onto it like there's no tomorrow and hope to God it never gets discontinued.

I've used L'Oreal True Match foundation in Rose Ivory for several years but have always been a bit unhappy with the results (a bit too yellow for my skin tone) so I finally thought it was about time to check out some premium foundations for better colour match and finish.  A friend in work recommended Lancôme to me and after some great service from one of the girls at the counter in Boots on Donegal Place in Belfast (Melissa Rae if my receipt is correct!), I bought the new release of Teint Miracle foundation in #007 with the Teint Miracle corrector pen in #01.

The 17th of March, otherwise known as St. Patrick's Day, is synonymous with everything green, green clothes, green makeup and green beer.  In my previous post, I showed you guys some of my favourite green polishes so if you're stuck for ideas on how to get green into your outfit today, check it out but if you're looking for a more distinctive St. Patrick's Day look, then here's one for you.

It's Always Greener

In case you didn't know, I'm Irish and as I'm sure you DO know, St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner.  While people get their green ensembles ready for the day, I often read on my facebook that green nail polish is really hard to pull off and that there are no nice shades available but here I am to prove you all wrong!  I have a SICKENING amount of green polish but here are some of my favourites.

L'Oreal Paris Wasabi Hint, O.P.I Greenwich Village, Essie The More The Merrier, Nina Pro Emerald City, Color Club Wild Cactus, Barry M Emerald Green

The polishes I've chosen range from pastel to neon to forest green to hunter green.  I really do believe that there is a shade of green for everyone.  What's your favourite shade of green nail polish?  Let me know in the comments below and be sure to follow me by the sites below, until next time :-)

So those who follow Barry M on facebook, twitter or instagram will know that they have launched a new nail art competition to tie in with Be Cruelty Free week.

As I'm sure a lot of you know, Barry M are very proud that none of their products are tested on animals and most products in their entire make-up range are Vegan (with a few exceptions due to the presence of beeswax).

For the competition, Barry M asks that you create 'animal friendly' nail art to be in with the chance of winning their new 'Aquarium' range, so here's my entry.

Quality Street Quilt

I'm a bit determined to use some (well A LOT) of polishes that I still haven't tried yet so I remembered I had this gorgeous purple from Jacava that was ready and waiting to be used.  I know we are technically in spring time and it should be about pastels and bright colours but it's still baltic and rainy here so I'll revel in a little wintery luxury.

Models Own Speckled Eggs Collection*

Today I bring you some swatches from the brand new Models Own Speckled Eggs collection.  Perfect for Spring and Easter, these pastel shades replicate the mottled look of our favourite easter treats, Mini Eggs!  When I opened the package with the nail polishes, I was so excited to see a tube of Mini Eggs as well so I have to say thank you to Models Own and Wizard Publicity for that.  Now, onto the swatches!

ASOS Africa SS14 Nails

So this week, us ASOS insiders got a sneak peek at the new ASOS Africa collection that's going to drop on the website on the 10th March.  As soon as I saw the collection, the colour palette of spearmint and pastel pinks just drew me in like WOAH and I HAD to do some nails inspired by the collection so hope on under the cut to check out the collection and more of my nails :-)
